# Best Travel Cribs Source: https://smallspacebaby.com/best/best-travel-cribs Updated: 2026-09-14 Publisher: Small Space Baby. Our score is an editorial rating out of 10 (fit 35%, features 25%, build 20%, value 20%), not a customer rating. Method: https://smallspacebaby.com/how-we-research#our-score The fold is what you live with, so start there. Travel cribs split into two mechanisms: umbrella-style frames that collapse toward the centre and pack into a backpack-shaped bag, and rigid playard designs with detachable legs that fold flatter but wider. The backpack format is the one that fits in an overhead bin or rides on your shoulders through an airport, and it is usually worth choosing even if the sleeping area is slightly smaller. Setup time follows from the mechanism, and a crib that needs a floor pad laid, a frame clicked and a mattress dropped in takes noticeably longer than one that opens in a single pull, which is what you notice at the end of a travel day with a tired baby. Check whether a mattress is included and how thick it is, because bundled pads are thin on purpose: a travel crib floor is meant to be firm, and adding a soft aftermarket mattress creates a gap at the edges that should not be there. Mesh on all four sides is standard and worth confirming, both for airflow and so you can see in from across a room. If you also want the crib to serve as a daytime play yard at home, look for one rated for a child who pulls to standing rather than for sleep only. Colour, carry-bag pattern and bassinet inserts you outgrow in three months decide nothing. ## Picks ### 1.
