Travel system

A travel system pairs a stroller with an infant car seat designed to click into the stroller frame without waking a sleeping baby by transferring them out of the seat. The car seat typically also works on its own with a base installed in a car, so the same seat moves between car and stroller.

For small-space families, a travel system can reduce the number of separate baby gear pieces to store, since the stroller and car seat are designed around each other from the start. The stroller in a travel system bundle is usually a larger, full-size frame built for the weight of a car seat plus baby, which is a different category from a lightweight umbrella stroller.

When shopping, check that the car seat and stroller frame are actually compatible with each other, since mixing brands often requires a separate adapter or will not click in at all. Confirm the folded size fits your storage space, elevator, or trunk before buying, since travel system strollers are typically larger folded than umbrella strollers. A common mistake is buying the stroller and car seat separately from different lines and assuming they will connect, without checking the compatibility list first.
